Hi, I am Ryleigh’s Auntie Michelle. My beautiful niece Ryleigh is 14 years old. She began regularly feeling ill about a year ago. After months of medications, numerous ER visits, doctor appointments, and testing, we were told that Ryleigh is suffering from numerous serious medical conditions simultaneously: stomach ulcers, GI problems, severe Crohn’s disease, fistula tunnels, two different serious infections, a perforated intestine, elevated blood pressure, inflammation & debilitating pain throughout her whole body and an internal abscess that had to be surgically tended to. She is not allowed to consume any foods or liquids at all, surviving only on IV’s for a week now. Multiple teams of experts at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin have been diligently providing all her medical care and we are so grateful for them. Yesterday, Ryleigh had to have a PICC line put in to receive nutrition and medications. This PICC begins in her arm and ends literally 1 inch away from her heart. This is very scary, for If any germs or infections enter her picc line, it will create an immediate life threatening situation due to the picc being so close to her heart. Ryleigh’s entire digestive system must remain completely calm and inactive in order for her to heal, thus why zero food or liquids are allowed and the picc is needed. Ryleigh is doing her best to be strong and get through all this, but internally she’s so incredibly sad and wondering “Why is this happening to me?” She needs the support of her family, friends, and community to lift her daily in prayer. My sister and brother-in-law are not the type to ever ask for help, but rather they are the ones who will go out of their way to help others at every opportunity. (I had to really persuade them to allow me to create this fund.) Ryleigh’s mom has MS and therefore is unable to work. Dad is a very hard worker at his job but is currently on unpaid leave to be with his daughter. Both parents have been diligently sitting by their daughter’s side each day and alternating doing the “night shift” beside their precious little girl. Right now, they have zero income coming in and between the mounting medical bills, new ones to come from this extensive hospital stay, plus needing to maintain their home, buy meals, travel expenses to and from the hospital, etc. it’s just overwhelming and causing them added stressors. I want them to just focus on being with Ryleigh and helping her heal, Not having their attention divided by having worry over finances too. Would you please consider joining together with me and bringing this wonderful family help, hope, and relief during this incredibly critical and frightening time in their lives?
